Laying off? 自 and 目

These one liners are more like a puzzle for new Chinese learners.

“自”对“目”说：你单位裁员了？

Zi (自) to Mu (目): Your company's laying off some people, eh?

I would say something like LOL:
Zi (自) to Mu (目): are you getting bald?

or

Zi (自) to Mu (目): You look weird with your eyebrows shaved?
