第十章 孙刘共抗曹
Chapter 10: Sun Quan And Liu Bei Resist Cao Cao Together

刘备来到汉津，随后被刘琦接到了江夏。曹操退兵后，见一时无法打败刘备，就写信给江东的孙权，要他出兵联合攻打刘备。
Liu Bei arrived at HanJin,but subsequently were moved to JiangXia by Liu Qi.After Cao Cao retreated,saw that at the moment he couldn't defeat Liu Bei,so he wrote a letter to Sun Quan,and wanted him to join forces with him to defeat Liu Bei.

孙权看完书信，召百官商量对策。百官们分成两派，有的主战，有的主和。
After Sun Quan read the letter,he called all his close officials to discuss these matters.the officers divided into two groups,some of them supported advocating the war against Cao Cao,others wanted peace.

孙权派鲁肃去探听刘备的虚实。见鲁肃到来，一直想联吴抗曹的诸葛亮暗暗高兴。
鲁肃主张抗击曹操，因此邀请诸葛亮去见孙权。诸葛亮假意不肯去，鲁肃再三相请，诸葛亮这才答应。
Sun Quan dispatched Lu Su to gather information on Liu Bei's case.Seeing that Lu Su arrived,ZhuGe Liang, who always wanted to join with Sun Quan to fight against Cao Cao, was secretly happy.Lu Su wanted to resist against Cao Cao,and consequentially invited ZhuGe Liang to go meet Sun Quan.ZhuGe Liang pretended to not want to go,but Lu Su pleaded with him,and ZhuGe Liang gave in and agreed.

到了东吴，鲁肃自己先去见孙权。孙权拿出曹操的劝降信，问鲁肃的意见。
After arriving at DongWu,Lu Su went to meet Sun Quan by himself.Sun Quan took out Cao Cao's letter demanding surrender,and asked for Lu Su's opinion.

鲁肃说:“要是主公您投降了，曹操怎么安置您呢？”孙权深以为然。
Lu Su said, "If you surrendered,then how would Cao Cao take care of you?"Sun Quan thought that Lu Su was right.

第二天，鲁肃带诸葛亮去见江东的百官。谋士张昭率先对刘备的实力提出质疑。
The next day,Lu Su brought ZhuGe Liang to meet JiangDong's officials.An advisor Zhang Zhao was the first to question Liu Bei's strength.

诸葛亮说:“刘皇叔兵将很少，却两次大败曹军。他的失败只因不忍丢下百姓。”
ZhuGe Liang said, "Liu Bei's soldiers are scarce,yet he defeated Cao Cao twice.his losses are only because he doesn't want to abandon the civilians."

谋士虞翻高声问：“曹操兵多将广，先生如何应付？”诸葛亮说:“曹操手下都是乌合之众，不足为惧。”
The advisor Yu Fan said loudly, "Cao Cao has a lot of people in his army,how are you going to deal with that?"ZhuGe Liang said, "There are only disordered bands of bad people (try saying that 5 times fast!) under Cao Cao,they aren't worth being afraid of."

虞翻不以为然，诸葛亮说:“刘皇叔用数千将士对抗百万曹军，难道怕曹操吗？” “你们刚打了败仗，还说大话” “你们主张投降，谁更怕曹操？”
Yu Fan was still skeptical,so ZhuGe Liang said, "Liu Bei used thousands of soldiers against Cao Cao's millions,would we be afraid of Cao Cao?""You guys just lost,yet you still talk big!" "You guys insist on surrendering,so who's more afraid of Cao Cao!?"

接着，二十余人纷纷向诸葛亮发难。诸葛亮大义凛然，舌战群儒，将他们全部辩倒。
Next,over a score of people one after another argued with ZhuGe Liang,ZhuGe Liang wasn't fazed,he argued against all the officials,and he won the debate against them.

孙权请诸葛亮去议事。诸葛亮见到孙权后，心想:“此人气概非凡，只能以言语相激，正面劝他抗曹是没用的。”
Sun Quan asked ZhuGe Liang to discuss official business.After ZhuGe Liang met Sun Quan,he thought, "This man's spirit is extraordinary,I can only agitate him with my words,to directly persuade him to fight against Cao Cao is useless."

等孙权问曹军虚实时，诸葛亮故意说:“曹操拥兵百万，您还是投降吧。”
Until Sun Quan can ask Cao Cao's side of the situation,ZhuGe Liang purposely said, "Cao Cao has an army of 1,000,000,you should just surrender."

孙权问:“刘备为何不投降？”诸葛亮说:“刘备是盖世英雄，怎能屈居人下？”
Sun Quan asked, "Why doesn't Liu Bei surrender then?"ZhuGe Liang said, "Liu Bei is a great hero,how can he succumb to such an inferior state?"

孙权一听诸葛亮暗指自己比不上刘备，顿时变了脸色，起身退到后堂去了。鲁肃责备诸葛亮不该如此轻视孙权，诸葛亮大笑道:“我自有破曹之计，他不问，我如何说呢？”
When Sun Quan heard that ZhuGe Liang was hinting that Liu Bei was better than him,his face turned blue with rage,rose and headed to the backroom.Lu Su scolded ZhuGe Liang for insulting Sun Quan,but ZhuGe Liang merely laughed, "I have plans to defeat Cao Cao,if he doesn't ask,then how can I say it?"

诸葛亮说刚才是故意以话相激，鲁肃转告孙权，孙权便请诸葛亮来到后堂。
ZhuGe Liang explained that he said those things on purpose,Lu Su passed word on to Sun Quan,and Sun Quan invited ZhuGe Liang to the backroom.

诸葛亮说:“曹军劳师袭远，不懂水战，我方必能破曹。”于是孙权决定抗曹。
ZhuGe Liang said, "Cao Cao's army are coming from far away to attack us even though they're tired,don't know how to fight on water,we can defeat him."so Sun Quan decided to fight against Cao Cao.
